Spokane

Just spent 5 wonderful days in Spokane with my lady friends. We went to Montana for the weekend and enjoyed the mineral hot springs. Ahhhh . . . . relaxing and refreshing. Did some shopping in Spokane and went to the YMCA for excercise and swimming. A great, great, great time.

Tah - Dah Presenting the "Ugly Quilt"!

I started off with making a quilt top and didn't like the color combination so I decided to use it for a back and do something funky on the front. Just struggled with this one, don't like the red material I used for the flower and not happy with the outcome. It is not the wow that I strive for, so a C- for this one.

Baby bib

I made the cutest baby bib and ruined it with the velcro. I bought the wrong kind, the sticky back ruined my needle and the thread was all gathered. I tried to rip it out but could not tear the velcro off. So I am stuck with this mess. Will have one of the girls try it out and see how it washes and wears. Next time Jeannete use the right velcro. Two monkey quilts?

Funny, I put the wrong blanket on one is a monkey and the other giraffe. Guess I must have been tired. Here is the other monkey blanket.

Monkey Quilts

Here are two monkey quilts I made since I got back from California. The first one is my second one. I started off with one idea and ended up with a totally different one. After I put the star on the front I thought oh . . Oh . . doesn't go well. So I looked over at my stash of unfishished quilts and spotted this backing. Just right I thought . . . so to work I went and tah dah . . I liked the way it turned out. The second one which is my first one is the orginial kind (well kinda the orginial one with a few changes) but the back is the raggey (is that how you spell it or is it even a word?) type. So off to quilting today with a few jobs between sewing. I promised Phil I would get my bookwork done before going to MN. Ugh . . I like doing it but I would rather sew. "Sew momma Sew". That is actually a website. By the way, the color in the pictures are poor, must improve my photography in my spare time.

A few mistakes

Working on hairbows and pins. I already have seen where I have made a few mistakes. My pin fell off today, guess I can't depend on the sticky part that comes on the pin, now I put hot glue from my glue gun. Hope that works. As far as the hairbows go I don't need to put both a piece of wool (circle) and the foam on the barrette, the foam falls off and it also is hard to clip on. Oh boy . . . Keep trying momma.

My friends

I just set up this blog so here goes . . . may as well start from the latest activities. Last week my friends (we are called the PJ's) Pat, Jeri, Jean, Jeanette went to California for one week of R&D. We visited as many of the quilts shops and yarn shops that we could put into a week (between LA and San Diego). The best was the LA District. I have been around the world and have never seen anything like the LA District. Blocks and blocks of material inside and outside of shops. A sewer's paradise. We had so much fun and found so many treasures and new ideas.

Baker's Dozen

I thought this would be a great name as I have 13 children and we ran a bakery for many years.
